We are family beekeepers in Northern Utah
We saw way fewer bees than when we were younger, less than half as many. Knowing that bees are crucial to our world and wanting to contribute to our world, we started to keep bees.
At first, we thought we would have just a few hives, but it was so fun and healthy, we expanded our business. Each year we hope to expand our offerings of honey, while always keeping true to selling true 100% tasty raw honey that neighbors can trust. We truly believe in the health benefits of honey.
Unfortunately, many foreign honey companies will add things like potatoes to honey, or other products not tested for through federal import testing. By doing this they can undercut honest US beekeeping companies on the sales price. Based on food inflation for the last 50 years a quart of pure 100% honey should sell in 2022 for around $27-33 for a quart or 3 pounds. It is likely that the price has been artificially held down by companies claiming to sell 100% honey while really adding cheap supplements.
In 2021 the major bee companies sued to try to establish better testing of honey coming from outside of the US and level the market.
So if you are buying honey from someone you do not know, especially outside of the country, including honey stocked in the grocery stores, you may not be getting pure 100% honey, even if claims are made.
If the honey appears thin or way underpriced, check where it was produced. Only pure honey has been proved to last up to thousands of years while in proper storage. Ours is pure honey that if properly stored can be passed on to children and grandchildren.
Real honey tastes better and has most of the nutrients needed to survive, if supplemented with protein. Even John the Baptist lived on locusts (protein) and honey in the desert!
